Extra Credit: Texting and driving poem. BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

With two hands on the wheel
Your mind is own the road
Until you hear a
Beep! Beep! Beep!

I looked over in curiosity
Who could it be?
I'll just take a peak
and see who it is.

With two hands on the phone
All that took was a second
For a distracted driver to look away.
I wasn't fast enough to hit the breaks

Now I'm on a hospital bed
and all I hear is
Beep! Beep! Beep!
It's not a text.

It's not a phone call.
It's me.
It's my heartbeat trying to keep me alive.
I am lucky

To be alive,
but I was stupid.
Stupid to pick up my phone
Too desperate to see.

Now I am here.
From a text
and all I could see
Was an emoji face smiling back at me.

What a worthless way to go.
Was it really worth it?
For an emoji?
It can wait! Always!
